Samuel played his Championship t-ball game last night and won!! I found it somewhat amusing that his trophy said...
World Series Champions!
ORWALL T-ball
Fall 2010

The Championship game got rained out twice but we came ready to defeat our nemesis the Muckdogs. We ended our season undefeated and the Muckdog's only loss was to us. They were fierce competitors and honestly I don't know how we ended up beating them the first time. The are really strong hitters and they have about 3 kids who seem to be able to catch and throw anything. Well, the Threshers (that's us) came ready to play and held the Muckdogs to 2 runs in the first inning (which in t-ball is huge).

We have some great players on our team but our claim to fame is our teamwork. I can't even tell you how well these boys were coached. They had been coached all season not to run when someone hits a pop up to avoid a double or triple play. Last night when a teammate hit a pop up, no one moved a muscle. Last night when he was playing short stop Samuel stopped a fast ball and tagged 2nd base to make the last out of the 3rd inning. It was a fantastic play because in t-ball there is a 5 run max per inning and keeping the other team from scoring all 5 runs doesn't happen all the time. His 2nd amazing play was running from 1st to 2nd. The 2nd baseman had the ball and was running to 2nd base to tag Samuel out. He was even ahead of Samuel. We're not sure how it happened but for the first time EVER Samuel slid! And by the skin of his teeth...he was safe.

After beating the Muckdogs 24-21 (and we didn't even bat the last inning) there was an award ceremony afterwords. Go Threshers! The bad news is Samuel could play baseball for 15 years and never have a season like this one.
